Alice Vierra’s cello studio is based in Vail, AZ but she also teaches in Tucson and the Catalina Foothills. Weekly lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60 minute increments for the fall, spring, and summer terms. Parents of younger students are expected to attend and support them in their home practice and other matters related to cello study. Students also participate in occasional group classes scheduled throughout the year.

More advanced students participate in cello choir and thus build chamber music skills as well as lasting friendships. The studio holds recitals during the year as well.

Many parents are concerned about motivation for their child. Alice addresses this in her lessons and her students also participate in various events/group performances offered by the studio, or offered through ASTA or the U. of AZ, or by the Arizona Suzuki Association. The individual lessons, group classes and extra events help to motivate the students in their pursuit of music. Some will aspire to become professional musicians while others gain skills that will help them throughout their lives. The goal is a life long enjoyment and appreciation of music.

“Mrs. Vierra is a very kind and patient person, but always pushed me to succeed at the highest level. Her guidance allowed me to audition for local youth orchestras, state-level competitions, and prepare for scholarship auditions in preparation for college. So much of what she has taught me continues to be useful to me to this day. .”
